RPEC Dec

Saurabh Kumar Pandey presented a seminar on the synthesis of supercapacitor electrodes with enhanced electrochemical properties. The seminar discussed impregnating biomass with diluted electroplating industry wastewater containing nickel oxides or hydroxides, pyrolyzing the biomass to produce activated carbon, and analyzing the resulting material. Characterization showed the activated carbon contained nickel which may act as a catalyst. The approach allows for waste utilization to produce high-performance electrode material for supercapacitors while also generating purified synthesis gas.

Last RPEC
 Characterization of prepared samples of PANI and AC.

 Analysis of asymmetric electrode system.

Introduction
 Activated carbon has EDLC type characteristics .

 Waste biomass is one of the best source for activated carbon production.

 While metal oxides ,nitrides and sulfides have pseudo capacitive nature.

 Electroplating industry waste water may contain some of these components

depending on type of plating.

 Waste water was collected from Electrochem Plating Private Limited,

Mahmoorganj, Varanasi. They do nickel plating mainly.

 The waste water from this electroplating industry contains Ni in oxides

or/and hydroxides.

Conclusion
 This approach of electrode material synthesis fulfills the motive of
waste to energy.

 We can make material with enhanced electrochemical properties.

 During pyrolysis gases are also liberated and in the presence of catalyst
its production and purity is increased.

 The waste water impregnated biomass has nickel present and that may
act as a catalyst during pyrolysis.

 So along with a good material for super capacitor electrode , we are

also getting syn gas of high purity.
