This document discusses e-portfolios, which are digital collections of student work that showcase learning progression. E-portfolios have two main purposes. First, they are a learning tool for students to track their goals, integrate lessons, and reflect on learning. Second, e-portfolios can be used for assessment by faculty to evaluate programs and student achievement. The key types of e-portfolios are discussed. Overall, e-portfolios allow students to regularly assess their own abilities and see their long-term development.

Learning Objectives

1. Define what is E-portfolio.

2. Label the types of E-portfolio and;

3. Value the purpose of E-portfolio in the learning process

of the students.
E-portfolio
An electronic porfolio (e-portfolio) is a purposeful
collection of sample student work, demonstrations,
and artifacts that showcase student's learning
progression, achievement, and evidence of what
students can do. The collection can include essays
and papers (text-based), blog, multimedia
(recordings of demonstrations, interviews,
presentations, etc.)
Portfolios are considered as a learning and
assessment tool
Student Learning: E-portfolio has been used to
facilitate, document, and archive student learning. It
is a learning tool for students to clarify their
educational goals, integrate and solidify learning
through reflection, and showcase achivement to
potential employers. By having students reflect on
what they learned, how they learned it, and how
much they learned, they start to take control of their
own learning.
Assessment and accreditation: E-Portfolio can also
function as a tool for faculty to monitor and evaluate
program effectiveness.To collectively examine
student achievement for program improvement,
portfolio can be a useful way to organize, sample,
and assess what students gained out of the
program. Portfolios enable faculty to not only
observe what students know and can do, but also
learn how students learn through student
reflections.
TYPES OF E-PORTFOLIO
What is the value of ePortfolio?

An e-portfolio provides the student with the

ability to perform regular assessments of
their abilities and build a more accurate
picture of where they would like to see
themselves longer-term.
SUMMARY
The use of the ePortfolio for the purpose of development and
management of knowledge and skills is booming. Today, we
made the shift to a knowledge society and digital culture. The
emergence of ePortfolios is entirely consistent with this shift.
An ePortfolio is a digital space that holds evidence of
educational and/or professional achievements, as well as
reflective writing about our experiences. ePortfolios can help
us as learners to develop our new or deeper learning, which
results in higher grades, help us to develop a better sense of
ourselves as students and as individuals to be shared with
friends and family members.
