Voltage and Current Divider Rules, Series, Parallel and Series-Parallel Circuit

This document discusses circuit analysis concepts including voltage and current divider rules for series and parallel circuits. It provides examples of calculating voltages across resistors in series using voltage divider rules and the principle of voltage division. Current through resistors in parallel circuits is also analyzed using principles of current division and conductance. Worked examples are provided to demonstrate applying these concepts.

The voltage drop across the nth resistor (RN) is equal to

the ratio of RN to the total equivalent resistance Req times
the total voltage across all N series resistors

connected in series. If R2 = 3 R1, find the voltages
across the two resistors.
Ans:

inverse proportion to their resistances.
• “Current follows the path of least resistance.”
