HOW DO WE DEFINE ARTIFICIAL
INTELIGENCE?

Artificial intelligence is defined by intelligence

displayed by human-made entities.
Intelligence can in turn be defined by the
ability to learn when confronted with new
information, the ability to recognize and solve
problems, be able to perform different and/or
specific tasks and, when it comes to A.I,
performing at the same level and/or beyond
human capability.
A lot of things that we would consider as artificial intelligence are not deemed as such
anymore, as they’ve become so embedded in devices and certain infrastructures that
the label has become obsolete.

THIS CAN BE BETTER EXPLAINED BY THE 3 STAGES OF A.I

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT SUB-TYPES OF A.I?

REACTIVE: which holds no memory and is used for

things such as Netflix Recommendations and A.I game
players.
LIMITED MEMORY: this algorithm strives to emulate
our brain chemistry. It gets fed data to train on in order to
develop its abilities. but Its abilities are limited to what it’s
taught.
THE NEXT TWO TYPES ARE THEORIZED
THEORY OF MIND: can recognize the thoughts and
emotions of the beings around it, in order to better
understand and simulate human relations.
SELF-AWARENESS: has a conscious understanding of
it’s existence and the world around it.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR A.I?
A lot of the general notion of the future development of A.I is already in the
process of being made into a reality. The funding for the research into Artificial
Intelligence has been rapidly growing, and devices such as flying vehicles, real
life simulations or a world ran by robots where humans can simply sit back and
enjoy their life, don’t seem that far-fetched anymore. Our resources are rapidly
growing, with A.I healthcare based developments predicting we could have fully
automated prosthetics and cures for multiple diseases available to us by 2050.

As for the future of theatre, I believe that we could utilise narrow A.I for set
building and props and simulators such as CHATGP to aid in storytelling. If
we ever dip into the waters of Super A.I, we could possibly use humanoid
social robots as actors and to aid in set changes, etc.
