INTRODUCTION
Shopping at mall is becoming daily activity in various cities. Every supermarket,
employee’s shopping cart in order to aid customers to select the product which they
intend to purchase. At billing counter customer may say many problems like waiting
and don’t know even they have sufficient money for the product they purchase.
The billing process at the counter is a time consuming and also need more human
resources for the billing. In the world of Internet of Things (IoT), interactions among
physical objects have become a reality.
Day to day items would now be able to be outfitted with computing power and
communication functionalities, permitting objects everywhere to be associated with one
another. This has brought a new revolution in industrial, financial and environmental
systems and triggered great challenges in data management, wireless communications
and real-time decision making

In this system, an inexpensive RFID tag is embedded within each product. When
the product is placed into a smart cart, the product detail is automatically read by
the cart equipped with an RFID reader. Hence, billing is made from the shopping
cart itself preventing customers from waiting in a long queue at checkout. Also,
expiry date of the product is displayed and the damaged products can be identified
with respect to its weight. Thus, expired and damaged products will not be
considered for bill calculation.

MOTIVATION
The Internet of things (IoT) is an ecosystem of associated physical gadgets/objects that are
available through the web. IoT is an arrangement of interrelated gadgets, advanced items,
articles, individuals or creatures that are given novel identifiers (UIDs) and the capacity to move
information over an organization without requiring any human collaboration.
The future of IoT is virtually unlimited due to advances in technology and consumers desire to
integrate devices such as smart phones with household machines. A Networking and
connectivity protocol has made it possible to connect people and machines on all platforms.
Also, there is so much data travelling from device to device. Security is another key concern will
need to be addressed to keep up with demands. From an individual’s perspective IoT offers
excellent career opportunities which need to be harnessed. However, it requires you to have the
necessary skill which is going to be the key differentiator .

PROBLEM STATEMENT:
In the current system, bar codes are used for scanning the product details
where the customers tend to wait in long queue for generating the bill
followed by payment. At times, the bar codes would have been damaged
and that particular product cannot be scanned by a barcode scanner leading
to confusion. Also, each and every product has to be scanned manually.
