This document provides background information on a study about the effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high school students. It discusses how alcohol use can negatively impact cognitive ability and study habits. The study aims to determine the demographic profile of respondents, frequency of alcohol drinking, effects on study habits, and whether a correlation exists between drinking and study habits. It reviews related literature on how alcohol affects educational attainment. The conceptual framework shows the relationship between respondent demographics, alcohol use, and effects on study habits. The research design is a descriptive correlational study using a questionnaire. The findings will help teachers, students, parents, and the community increase awareness of alcohol's impacts.

Chapter 1

Introduction
Background of the Study

The consumption of alcohol can be expected to have a negative impact on schooling both directly
through its potential impact on cognitive ability and indirectly through its impact on study habits. However,
there may also be a negative relationship between alcohol use and education since people who have high
prices and/or have lower expectations for their future earnings may put less effort into their education while
also being more likely to engage in excessive drinking habit. To establish a causal relationship between alcohol
use and academic outcomes, it is crucial to account for any possible endogeneity between drinking and
schooling.
Statement of the Problem

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of?

a. Age
b. Sex
c. Frequency of alcohol drinking

2. What is the frequency of alcohol drinking in senior high school students at Cabugao Integrated School?

3.What are the effects of alcohol drinking in the study habits of Senior high school students at Cabugao Integrated School?

4. Is there correlation between drinking alcohol in the study habits of senior high school student?

Importance of the study

Teachers
It will serve an information for teachers to spread awareness to the students to whom may be at risk for
alcoholism. Educators can work together to educate students about the appropriate consumption of alcoholic
beverages.

Students
It is crucial that students are aware of how alcohol use affects their ability to study because excessive
alcohol consumption may have unfavorable impact, focus issues can seriously hinder your capacity to perform
well in school activities and complete other critical tasks.
Parents
This study will provide parents and others with information about the effects of alcohol consumption
because parents can play a significant role in assisting their children in developing a healthy attitude toward
drinking and minimizing their risk of underage drinking.

Community
For the community to spread awareness through gatherings of the parents of students who drink and
those who have a high possibility of drinking alcohol, as well to inform them that young people are now
involved in alcoholism and need the community’s support.

Future researchers
They would benefit from this study if they were to perform a similar investigation since it would give
them the chance to learn new information and build on what they already know.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
The study on effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high school students at
Cabugao Integrated School, school year 2022-2023. It includes the physical and behavioral problems that
students experience after drinking alcohol.
Also, it look forward to further study, on how alcohol drinking really affect the daily lifestyle of the
student.
The researchers chose students in senior high school to be their respondents because they wanted to
learn about drinking habits and the effects they have on students’ study habits, as well as a possible way to
prevent them.
A questionnaire distributed to a total of twenty (20) respondents from a random selection to all
senior high school students for this study.
Chapter 2
Review of Related Literature

Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol 4 Study (CAS) provided evidence on the extent to which
alcohol consumption affects college study habits, which are then anticipated to impact the creation of human
capital. Understanding the mechanisms by which alcohol use affects academic performance may provide
additional insight into the potential impact of alcohol-reduction policies on the quantity and quality of human
capital accumulation.

Several studies have reported that alcohol use during adolescence affects educational attainment by
decreasing the number of years of schooling and the likelihood of completing school (Chatterji and DeSimone,
2005, Cook and Moore, 1993, according to Gil-Lacruz and Molina, Some other research of them use an
alternative estimation techniques that suggests the effects of teen drinking in a years of education and schooling
completion are very small and/or non-significant (Chatterji, 2006, Dee and Evans, 2003, Koch and Ribar, 2001.

Design of the Study

Since the study aim to determine the effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of Senior High
School students at Cabugao Integrated School, the researchers employ the descriptive correlational study using a
questionnaire to the respondents.

The researchers chose the “Effects of Alcohol Drinking on Study Habits of Senior High School
Students at Cabugao Integrated School” which is the topic for whole duration of this study. Then afterwards, the
researchers used a questionnaire and distribute it to the senior high school student at Cabugao Integrated School.
Instruments and Validation

The instrument used in this study is the questionnaire created by the researchers. It is composed of
two parts, 1.) The profile of the respondents, to know the basic information about them, 2.) The
effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high school students, to determine whether
excessive alcohol consumption negatively affects students’ ability to learn and do well on their
classroom activity.
Statistical Treatment of Data

In the tabulation of the data, statistical tools are used such as frequency count, percent and

mean to describe the profile of the respondents. Weighted mean was utilized to describe the general

responses of the respondents on the effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high

school students at Cabugao Integrated School.

Pearson r and t-test, the Pearson r was used to determine the correlation between drinking

alcohol on the study habits of senior high school student.

Effects of Alcohol Drinking
on the Study Habits of Senior
High School Students at
Cabugao Integrated School
ABSTRACT
The study was undertaken to analyze the effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high school
at Cabugao Integrated School.
The researchers used the Purposive Random Sampling procedure to identify the effects of alcohol
drinking on the study habits of twenty (20) respondents of this study, who were the students at Cabugao
Integrated School.
The researchers used the Descriptive method through questionnaire with the effects of alcohol
drinking on the study habits of senior high school students. Each respondent was given a questionnaire. After
the questionnaire was given, gathered, tallied the tabulated data, the researchers applied the necessary
methods, the following findings were revealed.
Based on the finding and the conclusion presented, the following
recommendations were hereby drawn.

1. A program promoting a healthy lifestyle should be implemented within the family unit and included in the
curriculum of the school.

2. The administration of the school should carefully study the existing guidelines regarding alcohol consumption.
School administrator should encourage students to choose a heathy lifestyle and should support anti-alcohol
campaign.

3. Excessive alcohol consumption can impair students study habit, it is important for them to become self-aware and
practice self-control when drinking, this will help them to realize how these elements can inadvertently affect their
performance in school.

4. For the future studies, the researchers are suggesting to widening the scope of the study and containing additional
variables to acquire more accurate data that will suffice and justify the topic being discussed.

there is no significant relationship between the effects of alcohol drinking on the study habits of senior high
school at Cabugao Integrated School.
 Recommendations

After a though research assessment and considering the foregoing findings and conclusion of
the study, the following recommendations are hereby presented:

1. If possible, a program promoting a healthy lifestyle should be implemented within the family unit
and included in the curriculum of the school.
