Q2 Math4 Week8

The document discusses comparing, arranging, and rounding decimal numbers to the nearest whole number or tenths. It provides examples of rounding decimal numbers like 2.46 to the nearest whole number (2) and tenths (2.5). Learning tasks then guide practicing these skills like rounding decimal numbers, comparing them using symbols, and arranging them from least to greatest. The goal is for students to learn how to work with decimal numbers through examples and interactive practice.

WEEK 8

COMPARING, ARRANGING AND ROUNDING

DECIMAL NUMBERS TO THE NEAREST WHOLE
NUMBER AND TENTHS
CARMELA M. MAZO
LOMA ES
In your previous lesson, you learned how to round off whole
numbers as well as to compare which number is greater or lesser.

This time, learn to compare decimal number as well as to

round decimal number to the nearest tenths or nearest whole
numbers.
In this lesson, you are expected to round off decimal
numbers to the nearest whole number and tenth as
well as to compare and arrange decimal numbers
ROUNDING DECIMAL
NUMBERS TO THE
NEAREST WHOLE
NUMBER AND TENTHS
(With Learning Task)
Using the number line, observe how the decimal number rounded
off to the nearest tenths and nearest whole number using 2.46

2 4 units 2.46 6 units 3

By looking at the number line you will noticed that 2.46

is still nearest to number 2 than 3.
Example 1: Round off 2.46 to the nearest whole
number

Solution:

2.46
4 < 5, Round down, maintain 2 and
ignore 6
Whole number to be rounded off
Thus, 2.46 rounded off to the nearest whole
number is 2.
Example 1: Round off 2.46 to the nearest tenths

Solution:

2.46
6 > 5, Round up, add 1 and ignore the
rest of the digit
Place value to be rounded off
Thus, 2.46 rounded off to the nearest tenths is 2.5
Learning Task 1: Round off the following
decimal number to the nearest tenths.
Example:
o nl y !
2. 7 2 = 2.7 , 2, 3 , 4 nd 5

Learning Task 2: Round off the following
decimal number to the
nearest whole number.
Example:

COMPARING
DECIMAL NUMBERS
(With Learning Task)
How do you compare decimal numbers?
A place value chart can help you compare two
decimal numbers. Look at the example below.

Learning Task 3: Fill in the blanks with the
correct symbol <, > and =.

Example:

ARRANGING
DECIMAL NUMBERS
(With Learning Task)
How do you arrange decimal numbers?
You can also arrange decimal numbers from
least to greatest or greatest to least.
Study the examples and observe the
arrangement.
Example 1:
Arrange the decimal numbers from
