(Various Aspects of Architecture)
2
Geographical Aspects consideration in
Architecture
The study of the physical features of the Earth and its
atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected
by these, including the distribution of populations and resources
and political economic activities.
In a soft note, geography is;
• How natural surroundings affect culture?
• How natural surroundings affect society?
• How human being, enact change in the world around them in
the consequences of geography?
Basically, Geography effects the human life which may lead to
adaptation of effective construction which suits the requirement
and the aesthetics as well.

Climatic Aspects consideration in
Architecture
• Weather conditions (including temperature, humidity,
precipitation, snowfall, winds etc.) over several years is
generally referred to as climate.
• An analysis of the climate of a particular region can help in
assessing the seasons or periods during which a person may
experience comfortable or uncomfortable conditions.
• The information helps in designing a building that filters out
adverse climatic effects, while simultaneously allowing those
that are beneficial.
• The build-form and arrangement of openings of a building can
be suitably derived from this analysis.
• Climate thus plays a pivotal role in determining the design and 4
construction of a building.

modelling for climatic conditions.
6
Religious Aspects consideration in
Architecture
• Religious aspects concerned with the design and construction of
places of worship or sacred or intentional space, such as
churches, mosques, stupas, synagogues and temples.
• The history of architecture is concerned more with religious
buildings than with any other type.
• The typology of religious architecture is complex, because no
basic requirements such as those that characterize domestic
architecture are common to all religions and because the
functions of any one religion involve many kinds of activity, all of
which change with the evolution of cultural patterns.
• This process of site planning has a cultural as well as a utilitarian
value; i.e. creating a plan for any social activity, the architecture
inevitably influences the way in which that activity is performed. 7

Social Aspects consideration in
Architecture
• Architects create the spaces and places we work, live and play.
• Remember, A building is not just an empty shell to live in 4 walls
and a roof. A building form is developed with its purpose. What is
the building used for and how can architect make that experience
the best it can be.
• A building which isn’t designed well will have poor air circulation,
poor light utilization, would take forever to heat up and cool down,
will use tremendous amount of electricity and gas to heat and cool.
• For a while, if any one of you imagine living in a warehouse. It is big,
cold, lots of empty space, would take days to heat up and just isn’t
very homely. You’ll be depressed at all. That’s where the ideas of
social aspects come from.
• Architecture is basically constituted of the aesthetic, the 9
engineering and social aspects
Social Aspects consideration in
Architecture
• Architecture is simply the physical form taken up by existing
conditions (political, social etc.) The architecture tells the
stories of its time. It is a living document of the past.
• Be it the stories of ancestral glories or national importance, it
is usually architecture which is the backdrop. With the people
gone, it is the backdrop that remains and becomes evidence.
• One needs to know what needs to be done architecturally, to
immortalize happenings of this time.
• Both history and architecture have served each other and can
not be separated.
