CHAPTER-1
INTRODUCTION
 
These days, due to Covid-19 people are not allowed to go eat or dine-in the restaurant that’s why in the
Food and Beverage (F&B) industry, Online Food Delivery (OFD) services trend has boosted. In the
food and beverage business, the OFD industry has developed as a new wave. By using OFD apps,
customer can easily order the food they want and freely pick or select their favorite foods from
different restaurants and they don’t need to go to restaurants.
 
One of the rising online food delivery app in the Philippines foodpanda. Foodpanda is a food and grocery
delivery network operated by Delivery Hero, a German company with headquarters in Berlin. With its
headquarters in Singapore, foodpanda now serves as the flagship brand for Delivery Hero in Asia.
Because of foodpanda it transformed the way people acquire things or services to meet their needs and
desires in just one click.
 
Food delivery drivers make this possible, keeping the public well-fed on days they don’t have the time,
energy, or ability to cook or pick up food themselves. Food delivery drivers often manage a high
volume of orders and must model safe driving practices and provide stellar customer service. They
often serve as the intermediary between restaurants or other establishments and their customers,
requiring good interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
 
The purpose of this study is to learn about the effects of COVID-19 on food panda delivery drivers in order
to identify the advantages and disadvantages effects of this pandemic.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
1. To know the disadvantages of pandemic to food

2. To know the effect of pandemic to food panda
drivers physically
3. To know the effect of pandemic to food panda in
terms of income

When the restaurants finally closed due to the kick-off of covid-19 cases

When due to the changing concept of marketing or buying people thought of some entrepreneurs to use the network platform
Deliveroo partnered with major retailers like Waitrose, Sainsburys, Aldi, Co-Op and Morrisons to deliver groceries to households within a
short amount of time. Uber Eats also saw a rise in popularity after partnering with Sainsburys in October.
When the strict lockdown was over, the Eat-Out to Help-Out scheme in August proved to be quite successful at that time.
But there are only a few restaurants that allow dine in, but you need to make an online booking or schedule
because they do not accept walk in With lockdown restrictions still in place and consumers’ behaviour
shifting towards convenience and speed of delivery, it can only be assumed that the rise of third party
online food delivery services will not be slowing down any time soon and we expect to see a few new players
entering the market too.

This paper points out the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the major crises worldwide
in the 21st century. And the growth of the food delivery industry is due to the fact
that there is a lockdown because people are also afraid to go out because of

ONLINE delivery service foodpanda Philippines has reached an estimated
70% market share among delivery mobile apps in the country after demand
surged last year, a company official said. Due to the sudden lockdown no one can
get out and according to foodpanda the user using their apps has increased in number
and also increased the demand of consumption of food delivery and their restaurant
partners have also increased and the orders they receive is 12 times the number
according to director Daniel Marogy and due to the growing demand for foodpanda, it
has had negative effects on them due to its high consumption. However,
they managed to keep their customers staying.
 
App -based food delivery services in the Philippines are offered by companies such
as Grab Philippines and
DBDOYC, Inc. (Angkas). Lalamove Philippines shut down its food delivery
business in February

North Africa. The company started as a food delivery service in 2011 and

METHODOLOGY

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

Purposive sampling was used in this study. the respondents of the study were the selected ten (10) food panda
riders of city of dasmariñas cavite. The respondents were purposely chosen because the researchers believed
that through purposive sampling.he obtained a representative sample by using a sound judgment.which also
resulted in saving time and finances in addition, the Food panda riders.Convenience sampling is when a
respondents willingly to answer questionnaire about our research topic. We'll keep using this method as long
as we require any responses. A respondents we're not available, we accept the decision and go on to another
respodents who may be available.

DATA COLLECTION
 
Convinience sampling will be used to gather data from food panda riders because the
researcher's objective is to know and find out advantages and disadvantages in this
pandemic. The researcher will formally submit the research instrument after it has been
approved. send a letter to the NCST superintendent via the appropriate school heads of the
NCST for their permission to conduct the study and for making process easier. google forms
were used for the research instrument and the interviews, respectively. because of the covid
-19 pandemic current health problem ,researchers were unable to write a formal letter to the
participants in order to obtain their permission. As a result , the message was sent via the
internet to the NCST . When the request was made, as soon as the researchers received
approval, they set out to find the information they needed.
to get information from respondents following the identification of respondents ,the
survey is conducted on the same day that the questionnaire was handed out, the researchers
immediately began their work . i received the response from the respondents. the survey
questionnaire's outcome were recorded and tabulated the information was the analyzed.
