Role Transition Among Baccalaureate Nursing Students at Umm Al Qura University

This study assessed nursing students' and interns' perceptions of role transition at Umm Al Qura University in Saudi Arabia. 102 nursing students in their fourth year and internship year participated. Most participants were fourth year students. Students perceived high levels of role transition, especially in support/organization, followed by competence. Preparation had the lowest perception. Interns scored higher than fourth year students in preparation and competence. The study concluded role transition is important for new nurses to develop confidence and manage feelings. It recommended developing comprehensive orientation programs and further research with larger samples.
