Acknowledgement
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge my
mathematics teacher Mr. Piyush Pandey, for encouraging and
guiding me in my project and for providing valuable
suggestions. I am also grateful to our principal who has helped
me with the setup for the project.

Defining Algebra
Algebra is one of the oldest branches in the history of mathematics that deals
with number theory, geometry, and analysis. The definition of algebra
sometimes states that the study of the mathematical symbols and the rules
involves manipulating these mathematical symbols. Algebra includes almost
everything right from solving elementary equations to the study of
abstractions. Algebra equations are included in many chapters of Maths, which
students will learn in their academics. Also, there are several formulas and
identities present in algebra.

Facts about Algebra
1. Algebra is derived from the Arabic word Al-jabr, which means the reunion of broken
parts.
2. Until the 16th century, there were only two subfields of mathematics: geometry and
arithmetic.
3. Fields, rings, and groups of abstractions are all studied as part of algebraic studies.
4. Engineering, science, mathematics, economics, and medicine all use elementary
algebra.
5. Professional mathematicians are interested in studying abstract algebra as the subject is
part of advanced mathematics.
6. Mathematicians who study algebra are known as Algebraists.

USES OF ALGEBRA

Uses Of Algebra
It is common for us to use algebra in formulas when we are uncertain of one or more numbers or when one or more
numbers may change.
1. Outdoor Landscaping
For example, the area of rectangular land is calculated by multiplying the base by the length (b is the
base, and l is the length). If the base is 5 m and the length is 6 m, then the area is 30 m².
Considering that the value for the base and length can be changed, we can
represent the formula using algebra.

2. Business
The use of algebra can help predict sales and how much a customer will spend. Using algebra, you can
estimate the lifetime value of a customer, which computes their annual spending percentage.
It is calculated as y = 12 + 8x
In this case, we can use algebra to determine the spend, where x (the number
of months the customer has shopped with a business) change. The
percentage of each year’s sales a customer will spend is represented by y.

3. In Marketing and Finance Management
1) Market
• Market analysis: With algebra, marketers can study and understand market trends. They can use equations to figure
out things like market share and sales growth.
• Pricing strategies: Algebra helps marketers decide on the best prices for products. They can use equations to
calculate costs, profits, and customer demand to set the right prices.
• Promotion effectiveness: Marketers can use algebra to measure how well their ads and promotions are working.
They can figure out the impact of different marketing methods and decide where to invest their money.
2) Finance Management
• Financial analysis: Algebra helps financial managers analyze data like
company profits and expenses. They can use equations to understand
things like profitability and financial ratios.
• Budgeting and forecasting: Algebra is great for making budgets and
predicting future financial situations. Financial managers can use
equations to plan how much money to spend and save.

Conclusion
This project was a great way to help myself realize some things that I hadn't before. Like how
much work I actually put into my assignments and how much I actually understand the work
that is put in front of me. Usually we don't look at the work after we go home because, why
do it at home and you have friends around you at school to help divide the work. This is how
students minds work, and actually how I think about it sometimes to. Sometimes I don't
understand the importance of teachers having us do these projects that seem to take a
lifetime, but then at the end of the day when it's all over I finally grasp the concept and the
idea of the whole thing and why they make us do it in the first place. Because they want us to
learn the importance of what we do in class or what we have learned and make sure we don't
leave this school with a miss understanding.
