COMPETENCIE:

•Derives a formula in finding

the circumference of a circle
Objectives:
At the end of the lessons the learner expected
to:
•Derives a formula in finding the
circumference of a circle
Recite:
Multiplication
table of 3
1. Who am I? I am a plane figure with four equal sides and four
right angles.
I am a plane figure with five sides.
3. I am a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides. Can
you
guess who am I?
4. I am a plane figure with seven sides.
5. Who am I? I am a plane figure with no sides. I am made up of
points
which are equidistant from the center.
2. Review: Finding the diameter and radius of a circle
Let the class sing small circle
WHAT IS pi?
𝜋 It is a Greek letter read as PI.
Is the ratio of circumference to its diameter.

It is irrational number. Meaning it is non-

terminating and non reapeating
It is approximately equal to 3.1416…
There for 1 diameter is equal to 3.14 circumference.
John Aldrich jogged around a circular park with a
diameter 0f 90 meters.What is the distance covered
by John Aldrich?

D=2r
D=2(6cm)
D=12cm
C=πd
C=3.14X12
C=37.68 cm
C=π2r
C=3.14(2)(6)
C=3.14(12)
C=37.68cm
Directions: Change D for the formula of finding the circumference of
a circle using the value of D given in each number.
1) D = 25 mm C = πD
= π___
2) D = 12 35 cm C = πD
= π___
3) D = 5.74 dm C = πD
= π___
Directions: Change r for the formula of finding the circumference of a
circle using the value of r given in each number.
4) r = 86 m C = 2πr
= π___
5) r = 3 27 km C = 2πr
= π___
Directions: Find the circumference of the circle
with the following
radius
1. r= 8 cm
2. r = 12.5 cm
3. r = 24 cm
4. r = 26.7 cm
5. r= 27.25 cm
1 3 7 15 31 63
x2+1 x2+1 x2+1 x2+1 x2+1
Let us use the other pattern:
+2, +4, +8, +16, +32

1+2=3
3 +4=7
7 +8=15
15+16=31
31+32=63
3 6 12 24 48 96 192
x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2

There for the next 3 sequence are 48,

96 and 192
Group the pupils into 4. Let them answer items
a to d by formulating/finding the rule in
finding the next term in a sequence. Group 1
will answer a, Grp.2 for b, Grp. 3 for c, Grp. 4
for d. Let the pupils present their work on the
board.
(Group 1)
2, 5, 14, 41, 122 ___, ___, ____ (x3–1)

(Group 2)
1, 5, 13, 29, 61 ___, ___, ____ (x2+3)

(Group 3)
1, 12, 34, 78, 166 ___, ___, ____ ( +5 x 2 )

(Group 4)
6, 9, 15, 27, 51 ___, ___, ____ (-2x2+1)
Find the missing numbers.
1. 2,4,6,8, 10,12,14
(x2) 5. 2,8,32, 128, 512, 2048, 8192
2. 4,9,14,19, 24, 29, 34 (x4)

4.. 1, 6, 21, 66, 201, 606, 1821 (x4-2)
(x3+3)

Evaluation:

Write the rule used for each sequence, then write the missing
number.
3, 7, 11, 15, ____ 19 ( +4 )
5, 9, 17, 33, ____ 65 ( x 2 – 1 )
20, 12, 8, 6, ____ 5(÷2+2)

A diameter is a line segment which passes through
the center of a circle and whose endpoints are on
the circle.
Radius is a line segment from the center to a point
on the circle.
