Classical Architecture
-It was started about when formal writing was established.
-There is not a set date to when this type of architecture was started or when it ended
-These types of structure are still used today, though rarely.
-Some examples are the White House, and most of the buildings in Washington DC, and the famous
colosseum in Rome.
-This comes from Greek backgrounds.
-This style could have been used for constructing anything from basic shelters, to homes and places to

-These buildings are very symmetrical right down to a tee, right down to the doors windows and the
outside walls.
-They also use flower designs.
-Arches are also common in this design.

Cornices is a
horizontal,moulded,decorative projection
that completes a building
Pediment is classical architecture
element consisting of a triangular section
found above the horizontal structure,
typically supported by the columns
Capital is the uppermost part of the
column
Entablature is a super structure of a
moldings which is horizontal member
made by architrave,frieze,cornice
Shaft is a structural member which
serves as a main support of the column
Modillions is a series of small brackets
at the bottom of the cornices, not a
supporting element ,decorative purpose
