The only Necessary Thing
Living a prayerful life

God's Covenant
God's Covenant
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom
God's Covenant
God-for-us
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom
God's Covenant
God-for-us
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom

God is born, grows to maturity, lives, suffers and dies as we do.

God's Covenant
God-for-us
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom

God-with-us
God is born, grows to maturity, lives, suffers and dies as we do.
God's Covenant
God-for-us
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom

God-with-us
God is born, grows to maturity, lives, suffers and dies as we do.

God wants to be close to us as our breath. God wants to breath in us.

God's Covenant
God-for-us
God defends us, God protects us, God guides us to freedom

God-with-us
God is born, grows to maturity, lives, suffers and dies as we do.

God-within-us
God wants to be close to us as our breath. God wants to breath in us.
Therefore
when we
speak about
the Holy
Spirit, we
speak about
the breath of
God
breathing in
us.
"I will put
my Spirit
within you to
cause you to
walk in my
ways."
What takes place when one receives the
Power of the Holy Spirit?
Union with God

1
“I shall ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to
be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth …”

John 14:16-23
Prayer is the expression of the life of
the Holy Spirit in us.
Prayer is not what is done by us, but rather what is
done by the Holy Spirit in us.
- Compassion
“No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord’ unless
he is under the influence of the Holy
Spirit.
(1 Cor 12:3)
Through the Holy Spirit we
can receive God's counsel,
we can hear His voice, we
can perceive His mind.
(1 Cor 2:11-12)
The Holy Spirit will help you

pray.
Rom 8:26-27
A new nature/spiritual power
“What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, truthfulness, gentleness, and self-control…”
Galatians 15:22-23
Power to Serve
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my
witnesses not only in Jerusalem but through Judea and Samaria, and indeed to the ends of
the earth…”
Acts 1:18
CONCLUSION

We cannot live the Christian life on our own

strength. We were not meant to.
We need the new life that comes from the
Holy Spirit.
