What is Point of view of a story?

The point of view of a story refers to the perspective from which the events of the
story are being told. It can be the first person (the narrator is a character in the story),
second person (the narrator addresses the reader as "you"), or third person (the
narrator is an outside observer).
The writers can decide who is telling the story to whom .

Second person POV
Why do you think authors do not use second point of view very often?

The narrator tells the story to the readers

using the personal pronoun 'YOU'

It forces the readers out of the story rather

than drawing them in

confuses the readers / is weird to read.

REMEMBER!

donot be fooled
Don't look at dialogue to find the POV of a story.

• In dialogue, characters use first-person pronouns all

the time.
• Look for the narration around the dialogue to figure
out the point of view
