Essentialism is an American
philosophy of education which
began in the 1930's and 1940's.
• The two origins of essentialism is
from idealism and realism.
• Essentialists refers to "Basic
Education".

Role of Student

Students are required to

level before they are
promoted to the next higher
grade. The content gradually
moves towards more complex
