- Starting SAP

1. Click on your desktop

SAP Server : there are 3 different kinds of SAP server for different purposes
1) Development Server [DEV] is used for testing the functionalities of SAP ERP by developer
2) Quality Assurance Server [QAS] is used to ensure the quality of functions from development server and used for training
3) Production Server [PRD] is used to operate the real business

Passwords:
• Can be 6 to 8 characters long
• Can be a combination of numbers
or letters
• Cannot be the same as your user
name
• Cannot start with three of the same
characters
• Expire after a predefined time
period

Definition of Client : In commercial, organizational and technical terms, a client is a self-contained unit in an R/3 system with sepa -
rate master records and its own set of tables. Generally, an enterprise is called a client.

- Multiple Logons

You can log on continuously while you are


logged on, and you can log on with a different ID
outside of your PC. The screen on the left will
appear.

1. The first radio button selection will exit the


existing log-on screen and log on,

2. The second radio button selection is to log


on additionally while leaving the existing log-
on screen (multi log-on problem limiting the
number of simultaneous connections 3 times)

3. Selecting the third radio button means stop-


ping the logon action.

- Log off

To shut down the system after you finish working in SAP,


1. Click Log off of the system at the top of the screen, or
2. If you click at the top of the screen , , the above log off message screen appears and
click to log off.

- Creating Favorites

In SAP Easy Access, you can create a favorites list containing transactions
Procedure Inserting an Item from the SAP Standard or User Menu
Use drag and drop:
1.Select an executable menu item using the mouse, and keep the mouse
button pressed.
2.Drag the item to the desired position in your favorites list, and release the
mouse button.
3.The new item appears below the position where you dropped it.
Or, use the menu bar:
4.Select an executable item
in the user menu.
5.Choose Favorites ® Add.
6.The new item appears at the
end of your list.

- Accessing/Initiating Transactions

To start a transaction, there are five options:


1. Include the transaction in your personal favorites folder
2. Use the menu paths to reach the transaction
3. Use the transaction technical name (also known as the
transaction code)
4. Position the cursor on the required transaction in the tree
structure and press Enter
5. Position the cursor on the required transaction in the tree
structure and select Edit > Execute (or press F2)

instead of following a menu

 Each screen in SAP has an
associated transaction code
 To display the transaction
code for a screen, follow

 A transaction code is entered in the command field of an SAP screen

To Show or Hide Command Field

 Placing /n before a transaction code will access the screen within the present session in
SAP
 Placing /o before a transaction code will create a new session in SAP

Command Example Description


T-Code ME23N Execute the T-code directly, but it won't work if you've already entered a specific screen
/N /N Clear the contents of the current session
/O /O Open a new Session
/N+T-code /NME23N Perform the corresponding T-code while clearing the contents of the current session
/O+T-code /OME23N Perform the T-Code while opening a new Session
/NEX /NEX Shut down all open Sessions

 For example, Delivery date is too early because the material has a
longer lead time (for requisitions); warnings must be acknowledged,
but can be bypassed
 E: Error message
 Entering invalid information will cause this type of message; errors
must be fixed to continue transaction
 I: Information message
 Displays document number or verifies an action (save)
 A: Abnormal end message
 Error in SAP program

3. F8: Used to run the program after entering a value in the query condition

 A search help provides functionality to search by entering search criteria


 SAP R/3 displays a list of all matching records it retrieves based on the
criteria entered
 Use “*” as a wildcard to search for items when the full name or number is
unknown (Ac* for Acme, for example)

Multiple Session in SAP

 Multiple sessions allow a user to look up information in one transaction while


entering information in another transaction
 SAP allows for as many as six sessions to be open at one time
 To toggle between sessions:
 Press and hold the ALT key, then press the TAB key
 Or if Taskbar is displayed, click on the appropriate session

 To open another session, use


one of the following methods:
• Follow the menu path:
• System > Create session
• Click
• Use the Command Field:
– /oxxxx Creates a new session and
goes to transaction code xxxx
– /o Lists open sessions
• To open a session while the system
is running:
– Click on the top left corner of
screen
– Select Create Session
