GANTT CHART

INTRODUCTION

• Called as Homonogram or activity chart.


• Type of bar chart that illustrate a project schedule
• Invented by Henry Gantt
• Useful for planning a project and defining sequence of
task.
HISTORY

• 1896- Karol creates first project management chart


called Harmonogram.
• 1831- Adamiecki publish Harmonogram
• 1910-1915--- Henry gantt publish Gantt Chart
• Today- Most preferred tool
DEFINITION:-

• A chart in which a series of horizontal line show the


amount of work done in certain period of time in
relation to the amount planned for those periods
• A Gantt Chart is a type of bar chart that illustrate a
project schedules
PURPOSE

• To plan and provide a visual graphical illustration


of schedule task
• To track activity
• To monitor and control program activity
• For logistic of a project or program
USES
• To represent time and type of task
• To plan and schedule project
• To depict a sequence of function
• To monitor function of project
• To take remedial action if delay
FEATURES :-

• It gives graphically illustration of schedule.

• It represent each event in bar
• Each bar represent time duration of activity
• Each event in a bar correspond to other activity
• Length of bar also depicit its starting time and ending time.

CONSTRUCTION OF GANTT CHART

• Determine project start date and deadline


• Gather all the information surrounding the list of activity
• Determine how long each activity will take
• Evaluate what activity are dependent on other
• Create graph sheet including timeline and list of activity
• Do analysis
• Perform analysis
