Paraphrasing

This document discusses summarizing and paraphrasing texts. It explains that summarizing involves determining the essential ideas, main idea, useful information, and key words or phrases from a text while keeping the summary shorter than the original. Good summarizing techniques include extracting the key ideas, concentrating on important details, and looking for keywords and simplifying ideas. It is not good summarizing to copy everything from the text, write ideas word-for-word, include irrelevant information, add one's own analysis, or make the summary longer than the original text.
