The whole Philippine Archipelago is divided into 3
major groups of islands:
LUZON, VISAYAS and MINDANAO
1. Mountains
Are large landforms that stretch
above their surrounding grounds in
the form of a peak. Several
mountains of the Philippines
serves as habitats for a wide
variety of wildlife and plants.
Mt. Apo is the highest mountain
in the Philippines.
2. Valleys
In between mountain
ranges from fertile U-
shaped or V-shaped
landforms.

3. Volcanoes
Being part of the Pacific Ring of
Fire, the Philippines has many
volcanoes. A volcano is a conical
structure on Earth’s crust with a
rapture or an opening from which
magma, ash and gasses are
released during the eruption.

The rapture or the opening of the
volcano is called CRATER.
Magma is a mixture of hot molten or
semi molten rocks and dissolve gasses
that are found below the surface of the
Earth.
Lahar is mudflow made up of volcanic
fragments that volcanoes spew during
eruptions.

Flat areas of terrains
located on a highland.

It is also an elevated
landform, however
shorter than mountain or
