Elements and Compounds-3 min
A Compound is a substance that can be broken down into simple stable substances by chemical means.
Each compound is made from the atoms of two or more elements that are chemically combined in a fixed
proportion.
Examples: Table salt (NaCl), table sugar (C12H22O11), marble (CaCO3)
Example:
You work in the assigned groups and use Moly mod models to explain how a compound differs from its
component elements.

Want A Challenge!
When metallic sodium is placed into contact with chlorine gas,
it forms sodium chloride and gives off a very large quantity of
heat.
Need Help! Explain with a reaction how the two elements combine to form
sodium chloride.
