Malitbog Preaching

This document discusses the importance of gratitude and living a life of thanks-living rather than just thanksgiving. It contains three main points: 1) Appreciating God's blessings like forgiveness, healing, redemption, grace, and satisfaction. 2) Avoiding complaining, which is a sign of ungratefulness. 3) Choosing to live with an attitude of gratitude through thanks-living rather than just verbal thanksgiving. The overall message is that we should not only be thankful to God but live lives devoted to praising Him for who He is and what He has done.

THANKS-LIVING

“THANKSGIVING
IS GOOD
BUT
THANKSLIVING
IS BETTER.”
Matthew Henry
GRATITUDE IN ACTION
Psalm 103:1-5
Praise the LORD, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things
     so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s
“WHEN WE THINK OF WHO GOD IS
AND WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US,
WE SHOULD NOT ONLY
BE THANKFUL TO HIM BUT WE LIVE
A LIFE OF GRATITUDE FOR HIM.”
I. APPRECIATION OF GOD’S BLESSINGS
1. LIVING IN A WAY TO PRAISE GOD
Bless - to kneel with the idea of adoration

a. A personal Knowledge for God – You know Who God is.

- David Knows that God is worthy of all the Praises
b. A Personal Encounter with God- You Experience God.
c. A Personal Relationship With God- You Connect to God.
Do we long to bless the LORD with all that is within us?
Do we live the lives that are devoted to bring glory and honour to our
God.

2. LONGING TO PONDER THE LORD

v2 Praise
the LORD, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits.

“FORGET NOT” “ALL HIS BENEFITS”

“Benefits” - dealing
(the Lord God deals and treats the Soul)

- God’s FORGIVENESS
v3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Colossians 2:13
13
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he
quickened together with him, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES.
Ephesians 1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS,
ACCORDING TO THE RICHES OF HIS GRACE;
- God’s HEALING
V3 who healeth all thy diseases;
Psalm 107

vv. 17-20 the Sick – AS A SICK MAN GOD HEALS .
vv. 21-30 the stormed-tossed

GOD IN HIS GRACE THROUGH THE LORD JESUS

CHRIST IS A REMEDY TO THE DISEASES OF THE
SOUL.
- GOD’S REDEMPTION

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction.
- The Plight of Lost Soul – Slaves to sin
- The Provision for the Lost Soul – God’s Redemption
1 Peter 1:18-19
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as
18

silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of

life handed down to you from your ancestors,
19
but with the precious blood of Christ,
a lamb without blemish or defect
- GOD’S GRACE - LOVE AND COMPASSION
who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies.
Psalm 103:8-10
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love.

He will not always accuse,
    nor will He harbor His anger forever;
10
He does not treat us as our sins deserve
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
- GOD’S SATISFACTION

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;
so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.

1. Inner Peace - Good things

2. Strength - Youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, for

my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the

more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest
on me
“WHEN WE REVISIT
THE CROSS WHERE
JESUS CHRIST
GOD’S BELOVED SON
HUNG AND DIED,
IT IS ENOUGH FOR US TO SAY
LORD, THANK YOU.”
II. APPROPRIATE WAY AGAINST COMPLAINING

COMPLAINING IS A SIGN OF UNGRATEFULNESS

AND DISCONTENTMENT

How destructive a complaining spirit can be?
1. It displeases the Lord. V1-3
2. It Driven by the influence of others. V4-5

THANKSLIVING IS THE CURE OF

A COMPLAINING LIFESTYLE

choice to be
angry to God for
what I don’t have,
or to be thankful
for what I do
have.”
