Seminar On Mobile OS: Saravana Kumar .S Cegonsoft Domlur

This seminar presentation provides an overview of the mobile operating system WiMAX. WiMAX stands for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access and offers high data transmission speeds of up to 72 megabits per second without cable infrastructure. It uses wireless networks through technologies like fiber optics, microwave links, or cable. WiMAX has a range of up to 50 kilometers from its base station and can transmit to non-line-of-sight locations. It provides broadband connectivity for applications like private networks, backhaul, and nomadic use. The presentation covers WiMAX architecture, features, types, specifications, advantages over WiFi, and concludes that WiMAX can help reduce costs and improve network efficiency compared to other wireless technologies.

Introduction

Introduction
Wimax stands for Worldwide Interoperability for

Microwave Access.
The Wimax technology offers around 72 Mega Bits per

second without any need for the cable infrastructure.

Wimax technology is based on Standard that is IEEE

802.16

How WiMAX Works

The Wimax (802.16) is based on the public wireless

networks by using optical fiber, microwave link, cable or any other high speed connectivity.
It serves subscriber stations using Non-Line-of-Sight

(NLOS).
The base station of Wimax has higher broadcasting power,

antennas and enhanced additional algorithms.

Advantages over wifi

Wimax Coverage Optimised for outdoor Range Optimised upto 50km/30mile Speed 70 Mbps Scalability Support thousands of users. Wifi Optimised for indoor Optimised upto 100feet

54 Mbps
Support tens of users.

Conclusion
Wimax has great advantages such as it has ability to perform an exclusive list of services over a single station. Wimax decrease in operating and capital expenditure. The development of application is often a competitive edge. So every wifi controlling a MAN should be replaced with WiMAX to reduce cost and to improve efficiency
