• It is a process of interaction and integration


among people, companies, and governments
of different nations, a process driven by
international trade and investment and aided
by information technology. This process has
effects on the environment, on culture, on
political systems, on economic development
and prosperity, and on human physical well-
being in societies around the world.

•Crystal also added that language is global. He means that he considers the
implications of English having this status, especially for its many users who
speak different mother tongue.
•Robert McCrum et al. (1986) Discuss the “success story” of the rise of
English. They also provide a variety of examples that demonstrate the global
presence of English.

• What is Ageism?
- It is a form of discrimination against people because of their age,
or assuming that older people are less physically, intellectually,
or emotionally able than other groups.
- Remember:
Refer to a person's age only when that information is pertinent
to the discussion.
