Diversity Is Unity

Utkarsh's document discusses the diversity of India across multiple dimensions. It notes that India has extreme geographic diversity ranging from the Himalayan mountains to deserts. It is also religiously diverse, professing all major world religions. The document further explores types of diversity, including internal diversity based on innate characteristics, external diversity from environmental influences, organizational diversity within the workplace, and worldview diversity in people's perspectives. Finally, it concludes that a diverse workforce provides benefits by increasing competitiveness, productivity, and fairness while management must ensure education and compliance regarding diversity issues.

DIVERSITY IS UNITY

THE DIVERSITY OF INDIA

• The diversity in India is unique. Being a large country with large population. India
presents endless varieties of physical features and cultural patterns. It is the land of many
languages it is only in India people profess all the major religions of the world.
• The unique feature about India is the extreme largest mountains covered with snow
throughout the year. The Himalayas or the adobe of snow is the source of the mighty
rivers like Indus. Ganga and Yamuna. These perennial rivers irrigate extensive areas in
the North to sustain the huge population of the country. At the same time, Northern India
contains zones and the desert of Rajasthan where nothing grows except a few shrubs.
DIVERSITY OF RELIGIONS
•Religious diversity is the fact that there are significant differences in religious belief and
practice. It has always been recognized by people outside the smallest and most isolated
communities. But since early modern times, increasing information from travel, publishing,
and emigration have forced thoughtful people to reflect more deeply on religious diversity.
Roughly, pluralistic approaches to religious diversity say that, within bounds, one religion
is as good as any other. In contrast, exclusivist approaches say that only one religion is
uniquely valuable. Finally, inclusivist theories try to steer a middle course by agreeing with
exclusivism that one religion has the most value while also agreeing with pluralism that
others still have significant religious value.
•What values are at issue? Literature since 1950 focuses on the truth or rationality of
religious teachings, the veridicality (conformity with reality) of religious experiences,
salvific efficacy (the ability to deliver whatever cure religion should provide), and alleged
directedness towards one and the same ultimate religious object.
THE BEAUTY OF DIVERSITY
i. The human race is extraordinarily diverse in so many ways—
gender, ethnicity, race, nationality, sexuality, philosophy, and
lifestyle. The areas in which we differ are endless.
ii. Yet, at a basic level, we are all of the same human species.
We experience highs and lows in life and strive to be happy
and fulfilled.
iii.Our common pains and joys are what bring us together, but
our diversity makes us unique. It is what deems you or I own
a special person, one who has never existed and will never
TYPES OF DIVERSITY
• INTERNAL DIVERSITY
• EXTERNAL DIVERSITY
• ORGANIZATIONAL DIVERSITY
• WORLDVIEW DIVERSITY
INTERNAL DIVERSITY
Internal diversity characteristics are ones
related to the situation that a person is born
into. They are things that a person didn’t
choose for themselves and are impossible
for anyone to change.
EXTERNAL DIVERSITY
The term external is used to describe things that
are related to a person but aren’t characteristics
that a person was born with. While external
diversity can be heavily influenced by other people
and their surroundings, even forcibly so, they
ultimately are aspects that a person can change
and often do over time
ORGANIZATIONAL
DIVERSITY
Organizational diversity, also called
functional diversity, relates to the differences
between people that are assigned to them by
an organization – essentially, these are the
characteristics within a workplace that
distinguish one employee from another.
WORLDVIEW DIVERSITY
THE FOURTH TYPE OF DIVERSITY IS COMMONLY KNOWN
AS WORLDVIEW. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A MULTITUDE
OF FACTORS THAT COME TOGETHER TO FORM OUR
WORLDVIEW, INCLUDING OUR INTERNAL, EXTERNAL,
AND ORGANIZATIONAL DIVERSITY CHARACTERISTICS, AT
THE END OF THE DAY, EVERYONE HAS A WORLDVIEW
THAT THEY ALIGN WITH.
CONCLUSION
A diverse workforce is a reflection of a changing world and marketplace.
Diverse work teams bring high value to the organizations. Respecting
individual differences will benefit the workplace by creating a competitive
edge and increasing work productivity. Diversity management benefits
associates by creating a fair and safe environment where everyone has access
to opportunities and challenges. Management tools in a diverse workforce
should be used to educate everyone about diversity and its issues, including
laws and regulations. Most workplaces are made up of diverse cultures, so
organizations need to learn how to adopt to be successful practices.
