Conservation of Angular Momentum

The law of conservation of angular momentum states that an object's angular momentum remains constant if no external torque acts upon it. Several examples are given that illustrate how decreasing an object's moment of inertia by bringing parts closer to the axis of rotation causes the angular velocity to increase in order to conserve angular momentum, and vice versa.

The law of conservation of angular momentum
states that when no external torque acts on an
object, the angular momentum of a body remains
conserved or constant
