EVAPORATION
Grade 6
Evaporation
Evaporation is a process of separating mixtures which
involves heating the solution until the solvent evaporates
leaving behind the solid residue.
Heat being the main component in this process separates the
mixtures of solid from a liquid. As liquid goes in the air in a
form of gas when heated,
changing liquid to gas as an example of physical change.

Evaporation separation method
Evaporation is the process by which water (and other
liquids) changes from a liquid state to a vapor or gas
state.
Evaporation is great for separating a mixture (solution)
of a soluble solid and a solvent.
The process involves heating the solution until the
solvent evaporates (turns into gas) leaving behind the
solid residue.
Grade 6
This is good for separating a soluble solid from a
liquid (a soluble substance does dissolve, to form a
solution).
For example copper sulphate crystals can be separated
from copper sulphate solution using evaporation.
Remember that it is the water that evaporates away, not
the solution.
1. Drying Clothes under The Sun
When the wet clothes are
put under the sun, they get
heated up resulting in the
evaporation of water
particles present in wet
clothes; making the clothes
dry.
2. Ironing of Clothes
