ACTIVITY 2.1: PRE-
LISTENING ACTIVITY
Nowadays, there are several issues that our
government is facing that will surely have a great
impact on us. These issues sometimes become
source of debate or argument because of diverse
point-of-views As a result, confusion arises
particularly to some people who are not familiar
with the issue. It is because they do not know what
to believe or not. Hence, one must need to be
analytical on evaluating the truthfulness and
substance of what they hear.
Issue 1: Opening of classes can only be allowed if
vaccine for COVID 19 is already available
Issue 2: Face-to-face learning is better than virtual
or online
Issue 3: The government should completely ban all
cigarettes and tobacco products to avoid lung
related diseases
Issue 4: Students should be allowed to have cell
phones in elementary, middle, and high school
Issue 5: Parents should limit their children in
watching television or using gadgets.
Face-to-face learning is
better than virtual or
online
The future of the Philippines is determined by the
success of face-to-face learning which has begun
today. However, the Covid-19 problem that has hit
our country in the last two years has caused
educational activities to stagnate. Though
education is the most important way to improve
human resources.
All activities that cause gatherings of many people
to stop, including the world of education because
everything is done online. Students do not meet
teachers, lecturers do not meet students. Learning
through online turns out to be strongly influenced
by the availability of gadgets, internet networks,
and internet quotas. This is what causes our
education to not be optimal, even over time this has
caused saturation for students, teachers, including
education providers.
In the end, the quality of our human resources is
not what we expected. Because it results from an
educational process that is less than perfect.
Moreover, this educational process does not reach
all students and the Philippines. Because the
facilities and infrastructure for online learning
activities are not evenly distributed. This policy can
provide certainty for teachers in carrying out their
professions that have been involved for years and
some even for decades.
Online learning is difficult to supervise, so it will be
difficult to assess the performance and
performance of each student, because the
assignments are independent. It is different when
the learning model is done face-to-face
(conventional). The practicum and assignment
processes are also easier to prepare, organize, and
assess. Because all students can be seen directly
by the teacher's performance and work process.
In the end, the assessment process carried out is
also more measurable and effective because it is
assessed from all aspects including performance,
activity, creativity, as well as the work or practice of
each student.
