Assignment 11
Wrapping Around
a Curved Surface
By: Mr. Gravitt
You are going to:
You can & many of you have already
figured out on your own how to just
add things by intersecting a curved
surface with a flat part. This time we
are going to learn how to cut &/or add
to a curved surface. We are going to
use Text tool, learn how to center
text, & create a surface (NOT A PART
BUT A SURFACE).
We are going to learn how to WRAP
something around a curved surface…
Step 1 Your Mr Gravitt’s Lessons Folder
you made in lesson 1
Step 2 In Your Mr Gravitt’s Lessons
Folder going to make a new document.
Step 3 Make a New Document
Name this document
Assignment 12 Wrapping
& Click Create
Step 4 – Start a Sketch
• You need to start a new sketch on a
plane.
Step 5 – Name your New Sketch
• You need to name your sketch Outer
Surface Sketch
Step 6 – Draw a Circle
• You need to draw a circle.
• I did 6 inches.
Step 7 – Divide Circle in Half
• You need to draw a line from top of
circle to the bottom. Cut it in half…
Step 8 – Cut Half of Circle Away
• Grab the cut tool.
• Select a click on a half of circle.
Step 9 – Finish this sketch
• Your sketch should look like this.
• Click Finished (Green Checkmark).
Step 10.1 – Revolve It
• Select Revolve, New, & select the
face to be revolved.
Step 10.2 – Revolve Axis
• Select the revolve axis(straight line).
Step 10.3 – Circular Pattern
• Should Revolve & look like this.
• Click Finished (Green Checkmark).
Step 11 – Make Inner Circle Sketch
• On any Plane start a new Sketch
called Inner Surface Sketch.
Step 12.1 – Hide the Part
• We need to “Hide” the part so we can
draw on the inside of it.
Step 12.2 – Hide the Part
• It disappeared!!! It’s OK it’s still
there, we can make it reappear later.
Step 13 – Draw a Circle
• Draw a Circle. I made it 5 inches.
Step 14.1 – Cut the Circle in Half
• Draw a line from top to the bottom of
the circle.
Step 14.2 – Circular Pattern Cutout
• Select Cut & cut away half the circle.
Step 14.3 – Half Circle
• Should look like this when done.
• Click Finished (Green Checkmark).
Step 15.1 – Revolve It as a Surface
• Name it INNER SURFACE REVOLVE.
• Select Surface, Edge to revolve, & Click on the half Circle.
Step 15.2 – Revolve It as a Surface
• Click Revolve Axis & Select the straight
line of the half Circle.
