Introduction
Global Health Challenges Numerous global health challenges persist, including
infectious diseases, pandemics, non-communicable diseases, health inequalities,
access to healthcare, and environmental health issues. These challenges require
international cooperation and collaboration to prevent, detect, respond to, and
control health threats.
Global health challenges and governance are crucial areas of focus in addressing
public health issues on a global scale. Specializations within this field are
diverse and include various aspects of health policy, management, and
implementation.
International relations help link health and human rights by promoting the
right to health as a fundamental human right. Through international agreements
and conventions, countries commit to ensuring equitable access to healthcare,
addressing social determinants of health, and protecting vulnerable populations.
International relations contribute to the monitoring and enforcement of these
rights, holding governments accountable for their health-related obligations.
International trade policies and agreements have implications for public health.
International relations provide a platform for negotiations on issues such as
intellectual property rights, access to affordable medicines, and the regulation of
harmful products (e.g., tobacco, and unhealthy food).
Balancing trade interests with public health concerns requires diplomatic
engagement and the integration of health considerations into trade agreements.
