The availability of new products, tools, and technological advancements

has expanded the creative possibilities for Filipino artists. They are
continuously improving their skills and exploring new ideas and
techniques using available materials. As a result, contemporary art
became a platform through which artists raise awareness and discuss
societal issues, effectively conveying impactful messages to their
audience.

1860 - 1970

Artistic work produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to
the 1970s, and denotes the styles and philosophies of the art produced during
that era. The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the
past.

Encompass a vast range of forms, reflecting the nation’s diversity. Filipino artists harness
this diversity to create art that resonates deeply and evokes strong emotions and social
issues.
