What are conditionals?

Conditionals describe the result of a certain condition

Also known as “If clauses”

To talk about something that always happens, might


happen or might have happened as a result of another
state, action or event
Zero Conditional
 To talk about things that are generally true. (facts)

IF/WHEN PRESENT SIMPLE PRESENT SIMPLE


If you mix red and blue, you get purple.

When the sun goes down, it gets dark.

First Conditional
 To talk about future situations, we believe are
possible or real

IF PRESENT SIMPLE WILL

Second Conditional
 To imagine present or future situations that are
impossible or unlikely.
IF PAST SIMPLE WOULD INFINITIVE

Third Conditional
 It talks about a situation in the past that didn’t happen and to
imagine the result of this one.
