• When you hear the word “agriculture” what images
come to your mind?
• For many, it is the image of a man leading the carabao
as they plow the field. For others, it is the images of
rice fields next to a nipa and wooden house with
animals like chickens, pigs, goats, milling around.
Few would probably picture a land filled with fully
grown mango trees filled with fruit ready to harvest or
fishponds teeming with bangus and tilapia.
Agriculture
•Agriculture is the art and science of
cultivating of soil, growing crops and raising
livestock. It includes the preparation of plant
and animal products for people to use and eat.
It covers plant food production, plant
propagation, animal raising and fisheries.
Growing Trees and Fruit-bearing Trees
•Planting and growing ornamental plants
and vegetables have many benefits and
contributions for the family and
community. Likewise, growing of trees
and fruit-bearing trees is important.
•Trees give us shade, served as shield
from the sun rays and helps in
controlling the rain water that causes
flood. Moreover, the woods that come
from trees are used for shelter,
transportation and another decorative
purposes.
•Plant propagation is the process
of reproducing or creating a new
plant or seedling. It is an
important part of gardening,
whether outdoors or indoors.
•Plants are living things that grow
either through their roots, stems and
leaves of their flowers, fruits, and
seeds. It is a method of growing
new plants from seed or from parts
of existing plants.
