Introduction To ECE

Early childhood education (ECE) involves teaching children from birth to age 8. It focuses on social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Socially, children learn empathy and relationships. Physically, they develop gross motor skills like running and fine motor skills like cutting. Cognitively, the brain develops rapidly and children progress from perception to logical thought. What is ECE?

Early childhood education, also known as


nursery education, is a branch of education
theory that relates to the teaching of children
from birth up to the age of eight. Traditionally,
this is up to the equivalent of third grade.

Infant : birth to 1 year old


Toddle r: 1 year old to 2 years old – mobility increases –
by the end of this stage they walk, run and jump,
recognizes themselves in mirror and pictures, mimics
others

logic to correct a misconception ( they can be
fooled)
Unidimensional thought - child cannot multitask.
