HW2 - Group N

The document describes the process of digitizing well logs from CPI images in NueraLog software and importing them into the Petrel reservoir modeling software. Key steps include: 1) Digitizing the CPI images in NueraLog, setting depth and scale axes and digitizing curves for each well. 2) Exporting the digitized logs as LAS files and loading them into IP software to view the curves. 3) Modifying the log data in Excel to remove negative porosity values and rescale water saturation. 4) Importing the modified data files along with well headers, tops, and surfaces into Petrel to construct a simple 3D grid model. 5) Upscaling the well logs,

CPI

DIGITIZING
LOGS INPUT IN
PETREL
RESERVOIR MANAGEMENT
PROCESS OF CPI DIGITIZING
picked the (bu-12 CPI) and digitize it in NueraLog.
Open Nueralog – open the project – digitize new well – chose the CPI for BU-12 image

2
The CPI image will appear like this
First click on (Create Depth and Scale Axes) from the left toolbar

Left click on the top depth, window below will appear, input the top depth
Left click on the bottom depth, window below will appear, input the bottom depth

3
NOW, I WILL INPUT THE LEFT AND RIGHT VALUES OF THE SCALE

I selected the Sw so the scale is (0-100).

4
Create/edit Depth Grids

After that open

(Edit Depth Grid Spacing) and enter the
difference between each depth I have selected.
Now start digitizing from (Digitize Curve)

AFTER COMPLETE THE DIGITIZING FOR THE FIRST CURVE:

RIGHT CLICK – COPY CURRENT DEPTH ACCESS – PAST IT IN THE SECOND TRACK

AND START DIGITIZING AGAIN

5
After that export the file as LAS file
After that export the file as LAS file
File – Export – Digital log
Open IP software.
Create new well – input – Load Data – LAS/LBS
Load – now chose the digitized log – Click on Load

Now click on view – Log plot

After that go File – Program Default Plots – 3
Tracks Blank

6
Now Drag the logs from well and drop it in the blank tracks

Now Drag the logs from well and drop it in the blank tracks Now we have displayed the digitized logs in IP
Now to import these logs in petrel we need to modified the digitized log data in excel and
make sure that no negative values in porosity data
And make sure that Sw values lower than 100, and divided it by 100.
And copy – past it in a text file 7
In petrel We will import many files.
First import well heads
From insert – new well folder – right click on well folder – import (well heads file)
Window below will appear chose the columns as in the below

9
Window below will appear chose the columns as in the below
Adding well tops from insert – new well tops – import well tops file
Chose columns as below – OK for all

Now I will add the well logs data for

7 wells (bu-1, bu-7, bu-10, bu-11, bu-
12, bu-14, bu16)
Right click on wells – import –
choose the logs files OK for all, and
do the same steps for Sw logs.
Now add the surfaces from Utilities – make/edit surface
The window below will appear – input the data as in the picture
below

Doing the same steps for the other surfaces

And the result in the picture below.
For starting a model go Utilities – make simple grid – and fill as
shown below 11
12
Now from Property modeling – Geometrical modeling, do as shown below
Now scale up well logs from property modeling – scale up well
logs And do as below for porosity and Sw.

13
14
Now after upscaling the logs go to property modeling – Petrophysical modeling
And do as shown in picture below
Do these inputs for each zone and repeat the steps for porosity.
Now from models – property we can preview the Sw and Porosity Distribution

The previous picture for porosity distribution

The picture below is for Sw distribution
