This is typically done to make the map more
accessible, shareable, and compatible with various
software applications
We Will Use Didger 3 for digitizing the contour map
Open Didger Software
File – New – Raster digitizing
Select the contour map to be digitized
Select the contour map to be digitized
Calibrate the map (Image-Calibrate image…)
Source X and Source Y will be filled automatically by the software
World X – World Y fill by the user which represent the x-y coordinates of the chosen point.
Drawing the contour lines
Digitize-Polygon for closed contour lines
Digitize-Polyline for open contour lines
This window will appear
In the Data Attributes section enter the In the Line Properties section
contour line elevation value in Primary ID We can chose the Thickness and color of the line
After Digitize all the contour lines
File-Export-select (Golden Software Data.dat)
type
Open the file with surfer program
This XYZ coordinates will be appeared select&copy all of it
And save it in a Text file Document
Open Petrel and import the text file.
Chose the file type (Petrel points with attributes)
