1. In meeting the farm owner, you must gather the
following data of the farm.
▪ Land area
▪ Crops to plant
▪ Sources of water for irrigation
▪ Available farm tools and equipment
2. Determine the owner’s plan to his farm.
▪ What he wants
▪ What is the farm management plan
3. Determine the estimation of farm inputs.
▪ Farm supplies ▪ Labor requirements
4. Calculate the farm inputs.
▪ Calculate the needed amount for the
operation of the farm
▪ Shows the total amount needed
in the farm operation.
5. Give the result to the farm owner.
6. Budgeting/Revision if there are changes made by the
farm owner.
▪ This part is the allocation of money or budgeting
based from your estimation and
calculation.
7. Finalization of the farm estimate and calculation.
8. Give the final draft of farm estimates and calculation
to the farm owner.

supplies
Direction:
1. Make your own procedures on how to canvass
farm supplies from different agricultural supplies.
2. Make a comprehensive diagram to show how to
canvass those farm supplies.
3. Use colored paper to make any icon to show
your procedures.

FARM INPUTS
•Resources that are used

production costs
1. Farm supplies – these are the essential
materials needed in crop production. The number
or amount needed is very important to minimize
unnecessary expenses.
2. Labor Inputs: These are body of persons engaged in
such activity. Particularly persons working for wages .
Labor inputs also use tools and equipment to make the
labor easy and to secure the production activity.
.
.
.
.
In estimating those farm inputs, we need to
know the situation of the farm such as the
land area, the necessary farm inputs to
estimate the money needed and to allot the
budget correctly to run the production of the
farm.
Example:
Abner has 2 hectares of farm. In estimating the needed inputs of Abner, list
down all farm inputs such as the needed farm supply and labor requirements
in the whole farm production. In terms of farm supply, make sure it will be
multiplied to 2 hectares.

Note:

100 kl/ha seeds needed if transplanting or direct seeding using drum seeder.
200 kl/ha seeds if the seeds will be broadcasted.
After listing down all the needed farm inputs, you may now put the necessary
amount to each inputs.

Compute the amount and you have now an estimate of a farm inputs.
Farm Supplies Computations
1. Seeds needed per hectare

Formula:
Total kilo of seeds = kilogram of seed X land area
Note:
1 hectare is equal to 10,000 m2 (square meter).
100 kl/ha seeds are needed if transplanting or direct seeding using drum seeder.
200 kl/ha seeds are needed if the seeds will be broadcast

Given:
Abner has 2-hectare farm land. He wanted to used direct seeding using drum seeder.
How many seeds does he need? How much is it?
To compute:
Total kilo of seeds= kilogram of seed X land area
= 100 kl X 2 hectare
= 200 kl
Farm Supplies Computations

To determine the price of seeds, use the following formula.

Formula:
Total price of seeds= Price of seed/ kilogram X seeds needed per hectare

Given:
P20.00/kl of seeds
Abner has 2 hectares.
To compute:
Total price of seeds= Price of seed/ kilogram X seeds needed
per hectare
= P 20.00/kl X 200 kl
= P 4,000.00
Farm Supplies Computations

2. Total amount of fertilizer

Formula:
Total amount of fertilizer = Amount of fertilizer/kilogram X No. of kilogram used

Example:

Urea (46-0-0) unit price per kilogram is P40.00.

The Urea (46-00) used in fertilizing the plants is 250 kilograms.
Farm Supplies Computations

2. Total amount of fertilizer

Formula:
Total amount of fertilizer = Amount of fertilizer/kilogram X No. of kilogram used

Example:

Urea (46-0-0) unit price per kilogram is P40.00.

The Urea (46-00) used in fertilizing the plants is 250 kilograms.
To compute:
Total amount of fertilizer = Amount of fertilizer/kilogram X No. of
kilogram used
= 40 X 100= 40 X 250
= P4,000.00
= P10,000.00
Farm Supplies Computations
Labor inputs computations
3. Total amount of salary paid during land preparation

Formula:
Total amount of salary = No. of days labored X No. of worker X
amount of salary/worker
Given:
The no. of days labored is 3 days.
The no. of worker is 2.
The amount of salary per worker is P300.00.

To compute:
Total amount of salary= No. of days labored X No. of worker X amount of
salary/worker
=X 100
= 40 3 X 2 X 300
= P4,000.00
= P1,800.00
Farm Supplies Computations

2. Total amount of fertilizer

Formula:
Total amount of fertilizer = Amount of fertilizer/kilogram X No. of kilogram used

Example:

Urea (46-0-0) unit price per kilogram is P40.00.

The Urea (46-00) used in fertilizing the plants is 250 kilograms.
To compute:
Total amount of fertilizer = Amount of fertilizer/kilogram X No. of
kilogram used
= 40 X 100= 40 X 100
= P4,000.00
= P4,000.00
