Inductive Transducer

1. An inductive transducer converts physical motion into a change in inductance by using a coil, core, and mechanical element. It operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction. 2. There are two types: simple inductance uses a single coil, while two-coil mutual inductance uses two coils, with excitation in the primary coil and output in the secondary coil. 3. Inductive transducers typically operate based on changes in self-inductance, mutual inductance, or eddy current production. The voltage difference and inductance change result from flux changes in the coils.

Main Components:
Coil: This is a number of turns of insulated magnet wire
wound around a high magnetic permeability core, such as
a ferrite ceramic rod or coil form. The coil is used to
generate an electromagnetic field.
Core: The core is a magnetic material (such as iron or
ferrite) that is placed inside the coil. The physical
parameter to be measured (e.g., displacement, pressure)
affects the position or properties of the core, thereby
changing the inductance of the coil.
Mechanical Element: This is the part of the transducer that is
mechanically influenced by the external physical quantity.
For example, in a displacement transducer, this could be a
movable rod or arm that changes the position of the core
within the coil.
Output Terminals: The induced voltage across the coil due
to changes in inductance is taken as the output signal. The
output terminals provide a connection for the external Fig. Inductive Transducer
circuitry to measure or utilize this voltage.
