PPE – Personal Protective Equipment
HOW HELMET PROTECTS YOU
Injuries from Spills and Splashes Liquids such as acids, caustics, and molten metals can spill
into your shoes and boots. These hazardous materials can cause chemical and heat burns.
Note: there are different types of safety shoes (e.g. for chemical “gum boots”, electrical
“electrical boots etc.)
Hazards that affect the entire body can include
temperature extremes, chemical exposure,
radioactive materials, arc flash, infectious materials,
sparks or flames, falls and sharp objects. A variety
of protective clothing, including laboratory coats,
long pants, rubber aprons, coveralls, and
disposable body suits are available for specific work
conditions,
• Working gloves should be worn during material handling, masonry works, carpentry works
etc.
• It will protect you from abrasion, pinch point and dirt.
• This person suffered major laceration to his face due to non wearing of face shield
during cutting operation.
Slips, Trips and Falls
SLIPS!! : to slide along smoothly resulting in a sudden
mishap.

Hazard Risk
What is Pinch Point:
- A pinch point is any point where it is possible for a body part to get caught (or "pinched").
- A pinch point could be between two moving parts, or between a moving and stationary part, of an object or machine.
Equipment and Tools Inspection
• Cranes, Heavy Equipment, Lifting Gears, Electrical Tools, other equipment Fire

All electrical tools, shall be checked and labelled by qualified personnel prior to use
Wearing of appropriate PPE for electrical work such as rubber shoes, gloves and mats
Only insulated tools when working on or near live parts of the equipments
No-use of electrical equipment in wet and damp condition/areas
Use of appropriate switches, breakers, etc. for energizing and de-energizing
Used panel distribution board and proper power outlets instead of extension cords
Use of ground-fault circuit breakers/interrupter (GFCB or GFCI) on all 220 volts or more

points.
When you hear a fire alert/alarm, stop work and turn off all power units before leaving the area
Before leaving the work area, make sure that the person next to or around you are aware of the
situation.
During head-count of personnel, report any missing person for immediate search and rescue.
