What are the pros and cons of this toy? How would you modify it? General Rule-of-Thumb When it Comes to Toys for Young Children... In general, look for toys that are slightly above the child's skill level. It is important for the child to have toys that s/he can successfully play with as well as those that will challenge him/her. Just keep in mind that challenge should be fun and stimulating - not frustrating.
Most toys are intended for specific age
ranges. Consider the child's skill level and whether it may be too far ahead of his/her actual development. FYI: There is more to stacking cups than meets the eye... While stacking cups may appear to be nothing more than simple cups, there are MANY uses for them that will provide countless educational activities for infants!
It is important to be creative and to keep an
open-mind when selecting toys for young children.
Always look beyond the toy to determine what
kind of educational experiences infants can gain from certain items. Remember that bigger is not necessarily better, and smaller does not mean that it is mediocre! Group Work Look around the room, find one toy/thing that would be suitable for infants. List the pros and cons and how you can improve it.
