Introduction to Draw Bricks (1/2)
• Almost everyone likes playing with Lego blocks,
irrespective of their age. It's a versatile hobby which
boosts creativity and is suitable for all ages. And now
this simulation application allows us to play around
with as many virtual Lego blocks as we like in a 3D
virtual space.
• Give (block) shape to your imagination. Draw Bricks is
a building sandbox with 3D block graphics and
realistic physics that are very similar to those in
Minecraft PE. In the application, we will find a 3D
virtual space where we can unleash our imagination
because here we can play with an infinite number of
digital blocks. It provides a complete 3D space where
you can free your imagination and build whatever you
want.
• Not only is it a very cool game it is also totally free.
Introduction to Draw Bricks (2/2)

• Draw Bricks is a 3D sandbox game that allows users to

build and create whatever comes in their mind. The
game provides a complete 3D virtual space where
users can unleash their imagination and build
structures using infinite number of pieces. The app is
available for free download on both Android as well as
iOS devices.
• Now in the following slides we will discuss about the
good points of Draw Bricks.
History of Draw Bricks:
The Draw Bricks application was first
released to the public on 10th July,
2016. The name of the person who
programmed, coded and made the
Draw Bricks application is Bruno
Sousa. For playing Draw Bricks,
Android version of 4.4 and up is
required. Currently, Draw Bricks is only
available on Operating System of
Android OS and not on iOS.
Good Points
• The app provides a complete 3D virtual space where
users can build and create whatever comes in their
mind, providing a fun and engaging experience.
• The app offers more than 300 types of pieces
and users can customize the colour or choose blocks
with textures of grass, wood, stone, and other
materials, allowing for personalization and creativity.
• The app includes various tools like Pencil, Eraser,
Paint Bucket, Move, Rotate, Character Control, Pan,
Clone and Terrain Generator, making it easy for users
to create and refine their creations, thus helping in
customization and originality.
• The app features various pre-built structures, such as
houses, vehicles, and castles, which can serve as
inspiration for users or as a starting point for their
own creations. So, Draw Bricks provides a point of
reference as well.
How Draw Bricks used Design Thinking:
1.) Thinking about the needs of users:
Draw Bricks thought about all the things and tools which the user would need in order to build what they
want. So, they added a large number of tools such as Pencil, Eraser, Paint Bucket, Move, Rotate, Character
Control, Pan, Clone and Terrain Generator. This made it very easy for the user to build whatever came in
their mind.

2.) Adding variety to make it appealing:

The human brain loves variety. If a person has a limited number of options while using an application, then
he will feel restricted and the application will not be appealing to him. But if there are many options
available, then the application will have a much greater appeal to any person. So, Draw Bricks offered more
than 300 types of pieces and also allowed users to customize the colour of those pieces. Draw Bricks also
allowed users to choose blocks with textures of grass, wood, stone, and other materials. Due to this, Draw
Bricks attracted a large number of creative people to build in the Draw Bricks application.

This is how Draw Bricks used Design Thinking to its advantage.

Problem Statements and Solutions:
User Experience Enhancement:
• Problem: Users find it very difficult to navigate the
platform for locating specific features, which impacts
their overall experience. For example, most users don’t
know that there are features such as terrain generator
and therefore, end up using only basic maps for their
projects due to lack of accessibility.
• Solution: Conduct user research in order to understand
the pain points of the users, update the user interface
for achieving improved accessibility and perform user
testing in order to ensure that the changes meet the
needs of the users. After opening the game for the first
time, a short tutorial for familiarizing the users with all
the features will help greatly in solving this problem.
Problem Statements and Solutions:
Limited Creative Flexibility:
• Problem: Users feel restricted by the limited number of
brick types which are available, which limits their
creativity in model building.
• Solution: Engage the users while they are playing
through co-creation sessions in order to gather ideas
from the users for new brick types. Also, implement a
feedback loop for improvements which are being made
and regularly update the app by adding new types of
bricks in every update based on the feedbacks from
the users. For example, an update which adds more 3D
shape blocks for building such as prolate and oblate
spheroids will be very helpful for the users.
Educational Support Integration:
Problem Statements and Solutions:
• Problem: Educators struggle to use Draw Bricks as a
platform for teaching students more effectively and for
enhancing the learning experience of their students.
This is due to a lack of educational resources and
curriculum alignment.
• Solution: Collaborate with educators across the globe
in order to develop educational materials. Also, create
a separate dedicated section for learning lesson plans
and educational content in the Draw Bricks app and
form a community forum in order to allow educators to
share their best practices and their best lesson ideas.
For example, a 3D model of the digestive system made
up of blocks in Draw Bricks will greatly help students to
visualize how the food moves through the digestive
tract and will greatly enhance the learning experience.
All this is possible in Draw Bricks
In Draw Bricks, you can build whatever comes in your mind. You can literally
make anything. You can make cars, planes, ships, buildings, etc. You can also
make realistic simulations of famous disasters like the sinking of the RMS Titanic,
the Hindenburg disaster and also 9/11. These simulations are realistic with actual
Physics. So, Draw Bricks is also a Physics simulation sandbox. These are some of
my creations which I made while playing Draw Bricks in 11th and 12th standard.
The huge plane is a realistic propeller jet with interiors like the cockpit and
passenger seats. The airship is Hindenburg, the largest flying vehicle ever created
till date. The ship is a detailed model of the RMS Titanic with interiors. This
model is made up of 24,506 pieces and took me three months to build.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Draw Bricks is a fun and engaging 3D sandbox application which allows
users to unleash their creativity and build whatever comes in their mind.
While the app has some issues, such as loading problems and compatibility issues, its
features and tools make it a great choice for users who enjoy building and creating
different things in a 3D environment.
The Draw Bricks application allows for more creativity than Minecraft due to proper
application of Design Thinking.
So, this highlights the importance of Design Thinking in making applications.
