• Cooking means the preparation of food through the use of
heat by boiling, baking, roasting, microwaving, frying,
grilling, smoking or any other method using heat.
Origin of modern cooking
• The art of cooking is
ancient. The first cook was
a primitive man, who had
put a chunk of meat in to
the fire, which he had lit to
warm himself. He
discovered that the meat
heated in this way was not
only tasty but it was also
much easier to digest.

Geographical Area
• Geographically, world is
very big place. Thus it is
one of the major factors to
affect the eating habit of
any man.

• Though the geographical
area is important, the
Agriculture of a particular
place has the major
impacton the eating habits
on the people living in that
particular region.

• One of the prime and major factors which affect the eating
habit is the culture and tradition of the area of population
or where the people are staying.
STERILIZATION
• Sterilization – It is the process of killing harmful micro-
organism or the bacteria. Thus once food gets cooked at a
higher temperature, these harmful bacteria gets killed and
food become safe to consume.
PRESERVATION
• Preservation – As compare to uncooked or raw food,
cooked food can remain in a good condition for a longer
time. Thus cooking helps to preserve the food in good
condition and one can have it or consume it after
considerable time also.

Economic Conditions
• Now a day’s economy and the affordability of the
particular person or a house, has become one of the
major factor for having food.
Aims and Objective of Cooking
• Cooking is the process or
a method of converting
raw food materials in to
palatable, digestible,
edible and nutrious food
by applying heat on to it.
