The document discusses multimodal texts and how meaning is conveyed through different modes of communication. It defines multimodal texts as those that use two or more modes such as written language, images, spoken text, and others. There are three main types of multimodal texts: paper-based, live, and digital. Paper-based texts combine modes in materials like books, posters, and comics. Live texts use modes like gestures, speech, and movement in dance, performances, and storytelling. Digital texts combine print, images, and audio/video in films, presentations and other screen-based media. Each mode plays a unique role in the meaning making process of a multimodal text.
