Leonardo Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician born in 1170 AD in Pisa who is considered the most prominent Western mathematician of the Middle Ages. He helped introduce the Hindu-Arabic numeral system to Western Europe through his book "Liber Abaci" in 1202, proving it was more efficient than the Roman numeral system. Fibonacci is most known for the Fibonacci sequence obtained by adding the previous two numbers, starting with 0 and 1. This sequence appears throughout nature and can be used to derive the golden ratio of approximately 1.618, considered divine.

HIS INFLUENCE IN THE WESTERN WORLD • In the XII century, Europe still used roman numbers (V II X C) while Hindu Arabic Mathematicians used our current number system. Fibonacci was very impressed with the efficiency of the Hindu Arabic system, so he brought it to the western world in 1202 through his now- famous book “Liber Abaci”, proving it to be way faster and easier to work with.

Fibonacci sequence • Fibonacci is most known for the famous Fibonacci sequence which is a set of integers (the Fibonacci numbers) that starts with zero, followed by one, then by another one, and then by a series of steadily increasing numbers. The sequence follows the rule that each number is equal to the sum of the preceding two numbers.

Golden Ratio • Through this sequence you can also find the famous golden number also known as “Phi” not 𝝅 , Φ. By dividing any Fibonacci number by the one before in the sequence getting approximately 1.618 (golden ratio) which is considered to be the divine portion of nature. • Leonardo Pisano (was born Pisa em 1170 a.c. e faleceu em 1240 a.c) In the XII century Europe still used roman numbers (V II X C) while Hindu Arabic Mathematicians used our current number system. Fibonacci was very impressed with the efficiency of the Hindu Arabic system he brought to western world in 1202 through his now- famous book 2Liber Abaci”, proving it to be way faster and easier to work with. • Fibonacci is most known for the famous Fibonacci sequence which is obtained by adding the previous to numbers to sequence and repeating it. So you start with 0 + 1then 1+1 which is 2, then 2+1, 3+2 5+3 8+5 ect.. • This sequence is found in many aspects of nature from the number of pedals in a flower to the shape of the arms of a galaxy and is often used as mathematical proof of existence of an intelligent design of the universe by God. • Through this sequence you can also find the also famous golden ratio also known as “Phi” not 𝝅 , Φ, By dividing any Fibonacci number by the one before in the sequence getting approximately 1.618 which is considered to be the divine portion of nature
