While access to information was average, respondents generally had good knowledge about proper waste practices. The main issues identified were improper waste disposal and lack of cooperation and food waste collection. The researchers concluded the ordinance was effective and recommended further public education and improved waste collection systems.

System in Barangay Cabezas, Trece Martires City, Cavite Introduction • In Philippines, rising amount of waste is rising and expecting to continue until the next generation. • the Philippine Government implemented Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 to practice proper disposal of garbage, segregation and manage waste. • To empower R.A. 9003, the local government of Barangay Cabezas in Trece Martires City Cavite implemented Ordinance No. 2017-001 or an ordinance known as the Solid Waste Management and Segregation. • The role of Ordinance No. 2017-001 is to segregate, collection, recovery, recycling, disposal and treatment of refuse resources. Objective • This study aims to find the effectiveness of waste management and segregation also known as ORDINANCE NO. 2017-002 in Barangay Cabezas in Trece Martires City, Cavite in. This paper focus on two objectives such as the following; to know the level of awareness of the residents regarding the Solid Waste management and segregation ordinance and problems encountered by the respondents practice the ordinance. Body • The research has a total of 30 respondents with the majority of female interviewees that are 18 years old and above. • The respondents are from Barangay Cabezas, Trece Martires City Cavite • The first part of questionnaire all of the respondents have “very much aware” in implementing of ordinance of Solid Waste Management and Segregation ordinance in barangay Cabezas, collection of garbage schedule, proper segregation and NO SEGREGATION, NO COLLECT policy. • The part two questions were used to ask during the interview to assess knowledge of the communities about solid waste management. - The majority of respondents agreed that they could access information about solid waste management in announcement by barangay. - few of them got updates from the internet and newspapers. • None of the surveyed households received information from the local authorities where they live. • From the above results, it can be seen that the respondent’s access to information is only at an average level and has not actively participated in information dissemination from local authorities • The score showing people's knowledge level was relatively high. • it can be concluded that people have basic knowledge about solid waste management even though their ability to access information is only average. • All participants believed that the appropriate waste separation should be at their home. • There were 15 agreed that the garbage collection location have a very high impact on the aesthetic area and human health, while 5 participants thought that there is no effect. • The main problem encountered by the communities are improper waste disposal in the barangay, poor public cooperation, lack of food waste collection and biweekly garbage collections. Conclusion • This study was conducted to find out the Knowledge of communities in Segregation and Management System in Barangay Cabezas, Trece Martires City, Cavite. • We had a study about this, and we found out that the implemented ordinance was effective. • The researchers concluded that the focus on Segregation and Management System in Barangay Cabezas, Trece Martires City, Cavite that builds and maintains a vision, direction, and focus for the community learning to include everyone’s role in that vision and inspires its everyone to excel in their community role. • Solid waste management is very important which helps to improved community goals and helps everyone to achieve clean environment. Recommendation • Waste separation from the household level, proper storage, more efficient waste collection systems, and sustainable recovery and disposal practices are identified as needed processes in the Brgy. Cabezas. • These management options should be integrated in a sustainable framework. • Adequate consideration should be given to monitoring processes. • Public education and properly planned waste management programs also need to be introduced into the current waste management system. • awareness programmes must be conducted in order to improve the knowledge about the importance of Solid Waste Management and Segregation for sound environmental development in the area.
