Q3 Transversal Line

This document defines key terms and relationships for angles formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal. It defines parallel lines, a transversal, and describes the different angle pairs that can be formed: interior angles, exterior angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, corresponding angles, same-side interior angles, and same-side exterior angles. The document provides examples of each angle relationship and activities involving solving for unknown angle measures using the defined relationships between angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal.

Relationships among

Angles Formed by
Parallel Lines Cut by
a Transversal
(Quarter 3 Week 3)
Definition of Terms
Parallel lines – lines that do not intersect in any point.

Transversal – it is a line that intersects two or more coplanar lines at two or

more distinct points.

When two parallel lines is cut by a transversal, different angles will be formed.

Interior Angles
• These are the angles formed in between the parallel lines.

Exterior
Angles
• These are the angles formed outside
the parallel lines.

Angles
These are two nonadjacent interior angles on opposite
sides of a transversal. These angles are congruent.

Angles
• These are two nonadjacent angles, one interior and one
exterior on the same side of the transversal. These
angles are congruent.

Exterior
• Angles
These are exterior angles on the same side of the
transversal. These angles are supplementary.
