Research Proposal 1

This study aims to investigate using avocado seeds as a sustainable alternative for printer ink production. The researchers will extract ink from avocado seeds and evaluate its quality, functionality, and usability compared to commercial inks. They hypothesize that avocado seed ink can offer a cost-effective and eco-friendly printing solution while addressing waste management challenges. The study will take place in the Philippines and involve extracting ink from local avocado seed waste through experimentation and testing the extracted ink.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using avocado seeds as a useful ingredient
in the manufacturing of printer ink. The goal of the project is to provide an environmentally friendly
substitute for traditional printer inks while also addressing the problem of waste management. The
researchers aim to extract ink from avocado seeds and evaluate its quality, usefulness, and functionality in
compared to commercial printer inks by conducting an experimental study. The study will take place at
Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, where there is a large amount of avocado seed waste. The effectiveness of
avocado seed ink will be assessed by the researchers using causal analysis and purposive sampling.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In today's society, the need for sustainable and eco-friendly products is paramount. Avocado seeds,
often considered waste, contain valuable compounds that can be utilized in various applications, including
ink production. Previous studies have shown the potential of avocado seeds in producing ink due to their
tannin content. However, further research is needed to optimize the ink extraction process and assess its
practicality as a commercial product. This study builds upon existing research and aims to explore the
untapped potential of avocado seeds in addressing both environmental and economic challenges.
AIMS
The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using avocado seeds as a functional component in
printer ink production. Specifically, the study aims to:

as an ink alternative
PROBLEM

The disposal of avocado seeds contributes to waste accumulation, while

conventional printer inks are expensive and may contain harmful chemicals. This
research seeks to address these issues by exploring the potential of avocado seeds as
a sustainable alternative for printer ink production.
The study will employ an experimental
research design, utilizing both primary and
secondary data sources. Purposive
sampling will be used to select participants
for ink quality assessment, while causal
analysis will be employed to identify
factors influencing ink functionality and
METHODS usability. The ink extraction process will
involve grinding avocado seeds and
treating them with acetone and alcohol to
enhance ink quality. The extracted ink will
then be tested for its suitability in printing
applications using standard printer
cartridges.
HYPOTHESIS

The researchers hypothesize that avocado seeds can be effectively utilized in printer
ink production, offering a cost-effective and eco- friendly alternative to conventional inks.
They expect that the extracted ink will demonstrate satisfactory quality, functionality, and
usability, thus providing a viable solution to the challenges associated with waste
management and printing costs.
INTENDED AUDIENCE

The intended audience for this research includes local government officials,
community members, educators, and future researchers interested in waste
management, sustainability, and alternative ink production methods.
