The concept of Resources
Anything that can be harnessed, developed and used
to satisfy wants and needs. Countries have different
resources available to them, which are categorized as
physical resources and human resources.

Refers to the benefits which a nation derives from
the wise use and management of its resources to
ensure its present and future growth..

Physical Resources
Physical resources include the land available for
cultivation or the mineral that can be extracted from
the earth. There are somewhat called natural
resources and the raw materials which can be put to
use in the various industries in a country.

Human resources
Human resources includes the strengths, creativity
and mental abilities of the human population,
including all the intelligence, talents, skills and
abilities that people possess

Importance of Human Resources

The importance of the human resources is seen in


the utilization of a variety of skills to solve
problems. This is where the talents, abilities and
skills of human are combined to produce solutions to
problems that we are facing such as climate change,
the current pandemic- covid 19, shortage of food etc.

Human Resources are also important because new


technologies and innovation are developed and
produced daily that develop the quality of life, foster
relaxation , increase productivity etc.

Productive workers Each person has potential skills,
talents and abilities which are developed through
experience and education. If a country is to grow and
develop, it needs to generate wealth and this relies on
citizens

help to ensure the country has a thriving, productive
workforce.

This kind of thinking allows people to evaluate and
assess current situations and circumstances and to

improvement, the creative thinker is able to suggest

If critical and creative thinking identifies areas of

Primary Health Care

Primary health care is provided at a national level


and is concerned with the prevention of illness and
disease, and the promotion of wellbeing and health.

Preventative Health care includes provision of:

• public education about diseases and conditions or


practices that cause them, including the correct
handling of garbage
• promotion of good nutritional practices, hygiene
routines, exercise and healthy lifestyles
• immunisation

• safe drinking water
• dental and vision care
• care for older people
• recreation facilities
• pre- and post-natal care.

Secondary or Curative Health


These services are concerned with the detection,
treatment and cure of diseases and with the treatment
of injuries.

Secondary Health services provide such things as:


● hospitals, clinics and health centres
● • diagnosis of diseases and other ailments
● • referrals to specialised services
administration of medication
All of these are expensive to provide and are a
drain on a nation's financial resources

Mental illness can be as difficult to deal with as
physical illness and it too can have an effect on
individual productivity.

Developing human resources is about:

development of the individual

Education is universally acknowledged as the means

Kindergarten 3-5 1. To cultivate interpersonal skills


2. Create a readiness for formal entry to
primary school
3. To provide basic training in reading,
writing and arithmetic.

Primary 5-11 1.Exposure to broad-based curricula including


aesthetics ( music, art, craft, dance, etc)
2.To further the all round development in all aspects of
the individual
3.Provide a basic knowledge in all aspects of the
curricula for meaningful entry to the secondary level.

of work or to pursue tertiary education.

Teritary ( University, 19+ 1.Specialization in a subject area such as


institutes, etc sciences, the arts, business management, law
medicine etc.
