Assignment 2 : Action Priority
Reflective Journal & Media
Presentation (30%)
There are 2 key parts:
1. Your reflective journal and data (which you
have been collecting over 4 weeks since
Assignment 1)
2. A 7 minute multi-media presentation
(video, youtube, powtoon, narrated
powerpoint) and transcript
Assignment 2 (cont)
In all, you will need to submit in one
document:
• Your reflective journal with all weekly entries
• All relevant data collection and research
support
• The link to your 7 minute media
presentation
• The transcript of your presentation
Your reflective journal and data
Template: There is a template in the
Assignment 2 section on LEO which can assist
• Data collected (present in table or graph form):
• What did I achieve this week?
• What challenges did I encounter? How did I overcome these challenges?
• How would I rate my success this week?
• Provide a full reference for one quality resource that will support your final
multi-media presentation and provide a brief summary of the content of the
resource

Add to this: Original evidence such as photos


(e.g. in an appendix or in the data section)
Number: Four Journal entries
Total length: 1200 words or equivalent +/- 10%
Your multi-media presentation

In the presentation
• Introduce your eco-challenge – and socio-scientific
concepts relating to target area
• Show your data collection (e.g. weekly table of
data, photos etc)
• Summary of ‘before’ (i.e. baseline) and ‘after’ data
in table and graph form to show changes.
• Comparative data information
• A reflection – significance of area for global
sustainability
• Reference list – APA7
Tips
In Introduction and Reflection – support with
reference to quality literature.

Quality literature includes:


• Journal articles
• Academic books or chapters
• Government commissioned research reports
Note 1: Use mostly Australian and environmental education
sources, but could also include science and International
writing on global sustainability
Note 2: Don’t just cite the source – show you have engaged
with the ideas in the article, book etc
Tips (cont)
Data presentation – When you present data, pay
attention to the details of graphs and tables e.g.
labels, units of measurement etc.

Journals – show a capacity for reflection – that is, an


ability to think about benefits and challenges, and why
things might not have gone as planned.

Reflection – in journals and at end. Write in first


person and show how your thinking has changed
through your research and action.
Tips (cont)
Presentation – Aim for clarity and engaging
presentation. Use graphs, images, text and
voice over to present your findings.

Presentation – Draw out insights from your


data and research. Mention strategies that
could improve sustainability in this area. Use
this as a chance to inspire action for
sustainability. Your experience doesn’t have to
have been perfect – you can still show insights.
Tips (final one!)
Referencing – This matters!
Include a reference list in your report and the
video presentation itself.
In unsure of APA7, have a look at the ACU
library guide. Paying attention to referencing
will lift the quality of your assignment work.
