ACSR Conductor Names Relates To Animals!!

ACSR Conductors:

 It is abbreviated as Aluminum Cable Steel Reinforced.


 It has various properties like high capacity, high strength stranded conductor and
due to this generally used in overhead transmission lines.
 The outer layers are Aluminium – For good conductivity, low cost, low weight,
resistant to corrosion and decent mechanical stress resistance.
 In Middle or centre strand is Steel type- For Additional Strength to help the
support of conductors, means provide mechanical strength
Animal Names for ACSR Conductors:

 The names keeping in relation to Animals due to specific conductor version. Like
by weight, size different names used as code words.
 Rabbit, Dog, Panther, Moose, Squirrel, Weasel, Zebra, Wolf, Coyote, Mink, Lynx etc…..
 We have used ACSR Moose conductor in 400 KV D/C Transmission Lines.
 We have seen ACSR Zebra conductor in 765 KV D/C Transmission Lines.

 AAAC: All Aluminium Alloy Conductor
 ACSR: Aluminium Conductor, Steel Reinforced
 ACAR: Aluminium Conductor, Alloy Reinforced
Uses of Conductors:

 AAC: Used in metro & coastal areas


 AAAC: Used in Power Line Crossing River and Low Strength support like in the
mountain area.
 ACSR: Generally Used in Transmission Lines
